Take me out to the ball game......

....and I'll have a grand old time !!!!

Last night, I drove myself to Atlanta to see my beloved New York Yankees play the Braves. As you can see my feelings for the Braves are minimal, at best.

I made a quick pit stop by Trader Joes for some "two buck chuck", then a slice of pizza and a few Long Islands at Mellow Mushroom.

I made great time to Turner Field, snagged a rocking parking spot and walked up to the gates as they were opening, two hours before game time. It was hot as hades and crowded and full of awesome, and in the immortal words of Harry Caray, " a beautiful day (well, night) for baseball!" And this time the game didn't get rained out !!!

My seat was really really good, I was just behind home plate, looking towards third base. I sat next to some super awesome Yankees fans who were actually from New Yawk but lived in the ATL because of business. They were more than happy to provide me with cold beer and ballpark feed on their company's expense account !! YAY for them ! And yay for meeee !!! They were so funny, they kept saying " Kim, have another beeeeeaaaarrrhhhh!" It was just like being back in NEW YAWK !!!! I love my Yankee boys, I tell ya. I think it's my Tony Soprano / Mr Big / G obsession.

MUY CALIENTE !!!! Hey little boy, want some candy???...

Anyhoo, I wandered around for a bit and took some pictures ( ALMOST 500! ) and then settled in with my new friends to watch batting practice and needle the Brave's fans around us. Oh and to irritate the holy heck out of the waitress person that was in our section bringing us food and stuff, that poor girl was running all night !! But I did see some major tips going her way and I think at least one room key, so I'm sure she'll be ok.

PLAY BALL !! I love it !! The national anthem was sung by a bunch of Delta employees, a Delta Employee threw out the first pitch (fail), there was DELTA everywhere, and the Prez and VP were there. Dang, no wonder flying on Delta is so expensive. Gotta take those folks to the ballgames.

MAy I also add that I love Nick Swisher and his Mohawk...never really been a fan of the mo'...but he works it !!

The Yankees looked pretty craptacular to begin with.....they weren't clicking. And there was some snarky witch behind me that had a nasty comment about every single Yankee player that came up, they were too short, or fat, or blind, blah blah frigging blah. And when my dear sweet Alex Rodriguez came up, she started yelling "CHEATER" and "A-ROD AND JUICE". Well yes I know he admitted his wrongdoings and that baseball has hecklers but she had this annoying hag voice and I just wanted to smack her !! And then some other guy would yell "MADONNA" every time he came to bat. Hello? Get over it, that was sooooo last season.

And then there was a questionable call at first base...and Manager Joe Girardi went out to vent his disagreeance....and got thrown out of the game !! Let's fire these boys up JOE !!

So I can't tell you how it made my heart swell with pride when my precious darling Alex hit a TWO RUN SINGLE on a 3-2 count to give us a 3-1 lead !! Was mighty damn quiet behind me the rest of the game......(pardon the crappy video...I took it on my iPhone while I was trying to take pics and yell at the same time, and yes, I am the tard WOOOOHOOOING when he makes the hit!!) .....

I did get a pic of a Derek Jeter hit, the quality sucks cause I was videoing and woohooing all at the same time, so my shutter skills were lacking....

The rest of the game was pretty exciting, Braves made it 4-3, then we made it 5-3, and the final score ended up Yankees 8, Braves 4. It was definitely one of the better games I have been to in awhile, and of course it being the Yankees made it all the better. I was surprised at the number of Yanks fans there, at one point, the sound of "Let's Go Yankees" was drowning out that dang annoying Tomahawk crap.

I wore my lucky pink Yankees cap that G bought me at the old Yankee Stadium at our first ever game together, and it served me well tonight....Thanks G....

All in all it was a great night, one I have definitely been needing ! I got to see my favorite player come through in the clutch, my favorite starting pitcher win the game, and my favorite reliever come in and get out 4 in a row for the win ! Plus I made it home in record time, (ie: broke every traffic law across two states) and settled in to watch Craig Ferguson.

As I said, I took a bunch of pictures !! If you want to se them you can do so at my Flickr feed or my MobileMe gallery.....thanks for reading and LET'S GO YANKEES!!

THE END

Nice pics and nice trip. I just reread your profile. I knew you were a widow but didn't realize just since March- don't know how I missed that. Must be very difficult, I admire your courage. Hang in there, I know you will. I follow your tweets.

P.S. The Yankees are great but, sorry, I'm a Braves fan.

Love this post! You sounded so happy in every word. The hag behind you? There is nothing sweeter than having some fucktard heckler shut the hell up. Love that!!!

The pics are spectacular, and the pic of you and G made my heart warm.
