If they are tearing up jack while you are away from home, you may want to consider crating them. This helps with the seperation anxiety by helping the dog to feel like he has a "den" of his own.
I didn't know about crating (20years ago)and had a pittie who had it terribly, he jumped through windows, tore up everything-couches mattresses, shoes, he ate a camera, it was awful. So you may want to give crating a try if you don't.
This just makes me smile. Dogs (even though destructive at times) can really help you through the messy stuff. Unconditional love, there is no substitute. Your babies are adorable!
